Publisher of Anaconda’s newest paper to dive into history of journalism in the Smelter City for ‘Anaconda’s Past’ talk

Stian Myraas restored this historic photo of the Anaconda Review, the Smelter City’s first newspaper, which shows its storefront located at the corner of Park and Main streets. Pictured are the paper’s staff: James D. Searles, left, Mrs. L.O. Leonard, George “Fatty” Cardwell and seated is L.O. Leonard. After the paper ceased operations in 1894 the location would become home to the Daly Bank and Trust Company, which is now First Montana Bank. Photo courtesy of Kathy Ilene Lunde.

How many papers have been based in and covered the Smelter City? Who ran them? How did they start?
